Greg Peros to chair 2017 Maui County Charity Walk
WAILUKU – The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association announced that Greg Peros will chair the 2017 Maui County Charity Walk.
The general manager of Maui Beach Hotel will oversee the Charity Walk held on Maui, Molokai and Lanai.
“As the 2017 Charity Walk chairperson, it is an honor to represent the residents of Maui County. It is a pleasure to lead the efforts for what is sure to be another successful year in Maui County in supporting hundreds of Maui County charities,” stated Peros.
In 2016, Maui County alone raised $1,095,455. In the last seven years, Maui has raised more money than Oahu, and Maui County has raised more dollars on a per capita basis since 1981.
The Charity Walk is one of the largest single-day fundraising events in Hawaii. Statewide in 2016, over $2 million was raised via walks held on Oahu, Kauai, the Big Island, Maui, Lanai and Molokai.
Since the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association started hosting the event in 1980, Maui County has raised a cumulative total of $10.4 million, benefitting hundreds of nonprofit organizations on Maui, Molokai and Lanai. And most importantly, all the funds raised on Maui remain in Maui County to benefit the local community and its residents.
