West Maui vacation rental business announces merger with Vacasa
LAHAINA – After 18 years in business, vacation rental management company Kaanapali Beach Properties (KBP) Inc. last week announced a merger with Vacasa, a technology-enabled management solution operating in 14 states and five countries.
Longtime island resident and Kaanapali Beach Properties founder Ken Rothman will remain with the company as its principal broker, and existing staff will join the Vacasa team.
“Kaanapali Beach Properties manages some of the most beautiful properties on the island, and Ken’s team has worked hard to earn its trusted reputation,” said Vacasa CEO and founder Eric Breon.
“We are proud to welcome them to the Vacasa family, and to provide our guests with a hassle-free vacation rental experience in one of the most breathtaking markets in the world.”
Kaanapali Beach Properties’ 20-person team of vacation rental professionals has provided luxury vacation experiences to tens of thousands of guests over the past 18 years.
The company currently manages 89 homes, which will now benefit from Vacasa’s technology and marketing systems but will retain the same operational protocol.
“The system Ken’s team has used over the past 18 years is working,” said Breon. “Our goal is to retain that system while adding the support of our proprietary technologies to provide a world-class service offering right here in Maui.”
Following the merge, employees will receive added employment benefits as well as expanded opportunities for advancement. The company plans to hire at least an additional 20 employees to help oversee and grow its business on the island.
Robert Grant joins Vacasa as its regional director for Hawaii, bringing with him more than 20 years of luxury travel accommodations experience.
Prior to joining Vacasa, Grant spent four years as the general manager at Mauna Lani Resort, a luxury golf and beach resort on the Big Island. His career also includes a 17-year tenure in Colorado as the director of capital at East West Resorts.
“I am so thrilled for the opportunity to work with Vacasa to bring vacation rentals to the next level in West Maui and beyond,” said Grant. “As a national company with some of the most advanced technology on the market, Vacasa provides an elevated experience to our homeowners and guests, and I couldn’t be more enthusiastic about our opportunity here.”
Vacasa will host a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 26, at its new office in the Honokowai Marketplace.
