Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce to host County Council candidate forum
KAHULUI – Candidates for Maui County Council seats will participate in a public forum hosted by the Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu.
Retired Judge and MNHCOC Board Member Boyd Mossman will moderate the forum with assistance from other board members.
Candidates will receive prepared questions in advance, but audience members will have an opportunity to submit questions that night as time permits.
“Our members are naturally most interested in Maui’s business environment and Hawaiian well-being – two issues that go hand-in-hand,” said chamber President Teri Freitas Gorman.
“For example, the scarcity of workforce housing on Maui negatively affects both business owners and our island-born people. We hope to hear from candidates with tangible plans for immediate action. It’s important to make an informed decision in the November election, locally and nationally.”
No-host cocktails and networking will begin at 5:30 p.m. with pupus prepared by Hoapili Ane.
Admission is $20 for members who pay in advance at www.mnhcoc.org or $25 at the door. Non-members will pay $30 at the door.
The deadline to register is Sunday, Sept. 11. For more information, visit www.mnhcoc.org or call (808) 298-5071 or (808) 633-3079.
