For the 11th consecutive year, members of the island-wide Rotary clubs manned doors at local businesses to collect school supplies and donations for the children of Maui. Over 80 boxes and bags of supplies were collected, and more than $4,500 in cash was donated

Each Maui Rotary club determined the recipients of the supplies and cash donations. In addition to distributing the supplies to Maui island schools, monetary donations were distributed to Keiki Kupboard at six schools, Kihei Youth Center, Hui Malama, and Friends of the Children’s Justice Center.

The Rotary clubs of Maui thanked Longs Drugs in Kihei, Maui Lani and Pukalani; Office Max in Kahului and Lahaina; Kmart; Walmart; Safeway in Kihei; and Lahaina Cannery Mall businesses for allowing members to accept donations. Rotary club members would also like to recognize the generous contributions of each and every person who donated supplies and gave money.

The island-wide School Supplies Drive is one of the many community service projects sponsored by the Rotary clubs on Maui and Lanai. Rotary is a leadership organization made up of local business, professional and civic leaders. Clubs hold regular meetings where members are able to form friendships and participate in activities that serve their communities.
