WAILUKU – Habitat for Humanity Maui recently received a $5,000 donation from HomeStreet Bank.

Habitat for Humanity Maui will utilize the contribution to continue to build new homes and renovate substandard and unsafe housing on Maui and Lanai.

Habitat Maui is currently building a new three-bedroom/two-bathroom home in Lanai City and has several smaller projects in progress on Maui through its “A Brush with Kindness” program.

“A Brush with Kindness” is a program that helps low-income homeowners make repairs and other improvements that the homeowners would otherwise be unable to afford on their own.

Volunteer teams work to improve the condition of homes by repairing critical damage or by installing items that will make the home safer or more accessible, such as wheelchair ramps or grab bars in a bathroom.

If interested in applying for the “A Brush with Kindness” program, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Maui or making a donation, visit Habitat Maui’s website at www.habitat-maui.org or contact Community Relations Director Max Tornai at 242-1140.
