Maui County Business Resource Center hosts free workshops
KAHULUI – The county Mayor’s Office of Economic Development hosts free workshops at the Maui County Business Resource Center in Maui Mall.
Seating for all workshops is limited, and all workshops are subject to change or cancellation. Workshops are free unless noted otherwise. To register, call 270-5770.
“‘Improv’ Your Selling: Sell More-Do Less” with Instructor Marc Levine will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Do you desire to convert more prospects into clients? Do you want a simple and honest approach to sales? Do you want to help a prospect feel less defensive and more empowered to buy? There are proven, powerful techniques based on the foundational ideas of improvisation that have helped others increase sales from 20 to 50 percent, according to Levine. In this fun, interactive workshop, participants will learn to: do less talking and more problem solving; provide more solutions, which equals sales; relieve the pressure of decision-making and empower people to buy; have questions to ask to get to customers’ real needs to create a common vision together; and practice two simple words that will immediately reduce the skepticism of any objections.
“The Power of the Inbox! Marketing in the 21st Century!” with McKenna Hallett is set for Friday, Nov. 13, from noon to 1:30 p.m. See the amazing results that the sending of a single e-mail can bring to your bottom line. According to Hallett, e-mail marketing has always been a more powerful marketing machine and has the highest return on investment of any other online marketing tool. During this free one-hour workshop and 30-minute Q&A session, attendees will learn the very best and latest tips and tricks for successful e-mail marketing.
“Making Better Decisions for Leaders Using the Six Thinking Hats by Marc Levine” with Levine will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The Six Thinking Hats Process allows users to make the most of their brainpower and the brains of their teammates, Levine said.
“Energize Your Business 101” with Shalandra Abbey is set for Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. In this workshop, participants will learn how to identify blocked energy in their business; ways to clear it; how to maintain a harmonious energy flow; and how to evaluate results. Attendees will receive a helpful handout reminder.
“14 Days to a Better Social Media Marketing Plan” with Nicole Fisher will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from noon to 1:15 p.m. In this workshop, attendees will get an understanding of why they are on Facebook, how to make more meaningful connections with their audience, how to use Facebook to help them brand their business, and the difference between a page and a profile – and why you need both. Participants will receive a ten-point checklist of Facebook page best practices for brand and planning.
“Time-Saving Tips for Computer Users” with Danielle Miller will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Spending lots of time running your businesses from your computer? Miller will share timesaving shortcuts. Computer users love these clever tips, because they help get tasks done faster. Learn about free tools that help you stay on top of industry news and monitor for mentions of your business. Bring your laptop so you can follow along.
“QuickBooks for Small Business” with Richard Kehoe, CPA, is set for Thursday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. The fee is $45. Learn to set up your company’s QuickBooks in a small class setting with personalized tutoring. This class for new users will cover how to record sales, receive payments, prepare invoices and balance your checkbook. Kehoe is a lead SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) counselor. Follow-up appointments are offered at no cost.
