Ka Lima O Maui to hold fourth annual Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities

WAILUKU – Ka Lima O Maui, a nonprofit organization that specializes in helping adults with disabilities with job skills training and employment services, will hold its fourth annual Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities on Friday, Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wailuku Community Center (Velma McWayne Santos Community Center) off Lower Main Street.

The job fair is open to all persons with disabilities, many of whom will be entering the workforce for the first time. There is no cost to attend and no cost to businesses to have a table.

Employers planning to participate this year include ABM, Aflac, Aloha Independent Living, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Enterprise, G4S Security, HC&S, HMS Host, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, Kmart, Lowe’s, Macy’s, Maui Economic Opportunity, Maui Electric, Maui Windows & Doors, Minit Stop, Old Navy, Safeway, Sears, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Sherwin Williams, Starbucks, Target, TSA, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, Walgreens and Westin Maui Resort & Spa.

All disability providers and their clients are encouraged to attend.

The job fair is held in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual campaign that takes place each October.

The purpose of NDEAM is to educate the public about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year’s theme is: “My disability is one part of who I am.”
