KAHULUI – Maui Electric Company will present fun games, interactive displays, hands-on demonstrations and entertainment at the free Maui Electric Energy Fair on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.

“Join us for a fun and exciting day dedicated to all things energy,” said Sharon Suzuki, president of Maui Electric Company.

“Bring the entire ‘ohana and see how electricity is made from various resources on our island or learn more ways to reduce your energy use. With safety always at the top of our list, learn how to keep your family safe when it comes to electricity or stop in at our hurricane preparedness table to ensure your family is ready in an emergency.”

New to this annual community event will be the introduction of “Maka, the Super Energy Saver,” that teaches keiki how to catch the energy villains that could be lurking at home.

The event will also feature various displays on renewable energy, electric vehicles, power generation and distribution, and energy conservation and efficiency.

Maui Zenshin Daiko will perform at this year’s Maui Electric Energy Fair on Aug. 22.

Additional displays will be presented by community partners: Baldwin and Maui High School Robotics teams, County of Maui Department of Water Supply, Hawaii Energy, JUMPSmart Maui, Maui Economic Development Board’s Island Energy Inquiry, Save Our Seabirds, Auwahi Wind Energy, and SunEdison’s Kaheawa Wind Project. Plus, don’t miss energetic performances by Maui Zenshin Daiko, Coolangots and more.
