Lahaina Sunset Rotary Club earns major awards
LAHAINA – The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, Maui’s newest Rotary club, earned four major awards at the recent Rotary District 5000 Conference on Hawaii Island.
The club received the prestigious 400% Premier Club Award for membership development and community service. Only two of the 51 Rotary clubs in the Hawaiian Islands earned this award.
In addition, the club received the Presidential Citation for actively working to “light up Rotary;” the District Governor’s Citation for achievements in membership, service and training; and the Rotary Days Award for strengthening Rotary’s relationship with the community and introducing the public to the enjoyable and rewarding experiences that Rotary offers.
“We’re pleased to be recognized by our peers in Rotary,” said Liz May, co-president of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset. “But the most important thing is that our new Rotary club has already begun to change lives in West Maui. With the help and support of the community, we intend to continue this work for generations to come.”
