Teppanyaki 2 Go offers a unique dining option
HONOKOWAI – There is fast food, and then there is slow (soul) food. As lifelong Lahaina side residents, Jolynn Ines and Casey Smythe have learned to take it nice and easy – to savor the aroma and taste of all that Maui life has to offer, especially when it comes to food.
To share the delights of their culinary backgrounds, the couple has opened a unique eatery here on the West Side called Teppanyaki 2 Go under their business banner of 808 Afternoons.
Ines and Smythe, along with dad Wes “Coach” Medeiros, had started a counter service restaurant at Old Lahaina Center two years ago and, with that success, decided to flex that experience into the new venture at the Kaanapali/Honokowai borderline location of Teppanyaki 2 Go.
At the site within the old Rose Mall – now called Kaanapali Marketplace – Teppanyaki 2 Go provides the cooking style of Japanese tabletop/flat grill preparation of steak, shrimp, scallops or chicken, along with freshly chopped and sauted vegetables, all served with a delicious ginger sauce.
Each meal is prepared to order, so there is a unique and quality eating experience of freshly prepared seafood and meats in varying combinations – with the big bang bonus of lunch wagon prices.
All entres and combos come with fresh veggies and rice, and they are priced to fit within the $10-$15 range.
Coach Wes has built two portable tabletop grill units for catering at homes or parties for those looking for a new experience for their guests.
Teppanyaki 2 Go recently catered a birthday celebration for ESPN lead broadcaster Chris Berman here on the West Side.
Teppanyaki 2 Go, located at 3481 Lower Honoapiilani Road, is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (808) 866-4025 for an eating experience you’ll be coming back for again and again.
