Clyde Holokai promoted to captain

WAILUKU – Clyde Holokai was recently promoted to the rank of captain and will be assigned to the Technical Services Section of the Maui Police Department.

Holokai began his career with MPD in 1993 in the 45th Police Academy. After graduating from the academy, he worked in the Lahaina, Wailuku and Kihei Patrol Divisions.

In 1999, Holokai was assigned to Baldwin High School as the school resource officer. He served for four years before being promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Wailuku Police Station’s Receiving Desk.?

In July of 2004, Holokai was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division until June of 2009, when he was transferred to the Plans, Training, Research and Development Section, again.

In May of 2011, Holokai was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and transferred to the Molokai Patrol Division, where he served his one-year term in that district.

Next, he was transferred to the Wailuku Patrol Division until April 2014, when he was transferred to the Vice Division.

During his tenure in the Maui Police Department, Holokai has been involved in teaching arrest and defensive tactics. He is a Taser Master Instructor, former gang investigator, and serves as commander of the department’s S.P.E.E.D. Team.?

In his personal time, Holokai runs a faith-based jiu-jitsu program called Fight For Life for youths and adults.
