Kiewit Building Group announces 2015 Scholarship Program
HONOLULU – Kiewit Building Group Inc., one of Hawaii’s leading general contractors, last week issued a call for high school seniors to apply for the 2015 Kiewi Scholarship Program.
The program awards three $2,500 scholarships annually to college-bound students interested in studying engineering, architecture or construction management.
Since 2007, Kiewit has awarded more than $45,000 in scholarships to high school seniors across the state, from public and private schools.
“We’re proud to partner with Hawaii schools for the seventh year in a row to offer our scholarship program and nurture students’ passion in a growing field,” said Sharon Ann Thom, senior vice president and Hawaii area manager for Kiewit Building Group.
“Today’s science and math students will become the engineers, architects and builders of tomorrow, as we’ve seen firsthand. Our program has truly come full circle with the hiring of past recipients from the program’s early years.”
Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0; intend to pursue a major in engineering, architecture or construction management; be accepted as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited four-year university for the 2015-16 academic year; and provide letters of recommendation.
Students must also submit an essay demonstrating excellence in academics and extracurricular activities, financial need, professional goals, and a statement on why they should be considered for the scholarship.
This year’s entries must be postmarked by March 30, 2015 to: Kiewit Scholarship Committee, Kiewit Building Group Inc., 650 Iwilei Road, Suite 202, Honolulu, HI 96817.
