Jakubczak promoted to assistant chief
WAILUKU – Police Capt. John D. Jakubczak, commander of the Criminal Investigation Division, was recently promoted to the rank of assistant chief and assigned to Maui Police Department’s Support Services Bureau.
After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1983 and serving a three-year stint with the U.S. Army as a multi-channel communications equipment operator, Jakubczak joined Maui Police Department in November 1987 as a member of the 36th Recruit Class.
During his career, he has been assigned to the Lahaina Patrol District, Communications Section, Criminal Investigation Division, Internal Affairs Division, Molokai Patrol District, and Wailuku Patrol District.
His previous positions include serving as commander of the Lahaina Patrol District, Molokai Patrol District and Criminal Investigation Division.
Assistant Chief Jakubczak is an instructor for MPD’s Arrest Defense Tactics training course and a member of the California Homicide Investigators Association, the International Homicide Investigators Association and the FBI National Academy Associates.
He graduated from the FBI National Academy in December 2009 as a member of the 239th Session.
Assistant Chief Jakubczak is the son of Rolana Jakubczak of Kahului and the late Edward Jakubczak Sr. He and his wife, Cynthia, have a son, David, a daughter, Devin, and a grandson, Raiden.
