Santa, Angel Tree giving program, song and the holiday spirit arrive at Lahaina Cannery Mall

While you’re shopping, check out the holiday trees decorated with hand-made ornaments by Maui schools and community groups as part of the annual “Festival of Trees” decoration contest.

LAHAINA – The holiday season kicks into high gear Saturday, Dec. 6, at Lahaina Cannery Mall with the arrival of Santa and the Kahiau Angel Tree giving project donation drive in partnership with the Salvation Army Lahaina Outpost.

Along with musicians, volunteers will collect donations, gift cards and unwrapped gifts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with live music and entertainment throughout the day. All donations will aid Maui’s needy children during the holiday season. For more information on Kahiau Angel Tree, call Vidella at 281-4467.

Live holiday entertainment continues each week in December with free performances from Hawaii musicians, halau, church and school groups.

Lahaina Cannery Mall will get into the holiday spirit again this year by giving away two tickets to Las Vegas as part of the center’s annual “Very Vegas Christmas” holiday giveaway. The winner will be drawn at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at center stage. Visit any Lahaina Cannery Mall merchant for details.

On Dec. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Kahiau Angel Tree Kickoff Drive begins. Santa arrives from 9:30 to 10 a.m., and the Children of the Rainbow Preschool Silent Auction starts at 10 a.m. The day’s entertainment slate includes the Lahainaluna Band Ensemble from 10 to 10:15 a.m., Lahainaluna Vocal Group from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m., Soldiers of Christ from 11:30 a.m. to noon, Children’s Ukulele Group from noon to 12:15 p.m., Youth Ukulele Group from 12:15 to 12:30 p.m., Maui Cheer from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and Na Kamali’i Nani O Lahaina from 1 to 2 p.m.

Also this month at Lahaina Cannery Mall, every Tuesday, free ukulele lessons start 5:45 p.m. Every Tuesday and Thursday, a Polynesian Performances Hula Show will be held at 7 p.m. Every Saturday, Keiki Hula Shows begin at 1 p.m., and Maui Toy Works will hold Yu-Gi-Oh Card Sessions from 3 to 5 p.m. Every Sunday, all-ages comedy and magic with Holden Mowat starts at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Keiki Hula Show at 1 p.m.
