Island Spirit Yoga celebrates tenth anniversary

By Staff | Oct 23, 2014

Island Spirit Yoga features a boutique that offers yoga accessories and island made clothing, jewelry and gifts. “We focus on selling items locally made to support our community artists and entrepreneurs,” said co-owner Deborah DiPierro.

LAHAINA – Island Spirit Yoga in Lahaina recently celebrated its ten-year anniversary.

Owners Deborah DiPierro and Christy Abelov started the studio with a passion and a vision to offer the community a soulful place to experience yoga’s transformational benefits.

What they dreamed of creating has manifested into a tranquil venue with classes that incorporate traditional methodology with contemporary knowledge.

“It is our mission to honor and embrace each student’s needs for personal growth, balance and health through custom-created classes,” said Abelov.

Island Spirit Yoga offers daily yoga classes ranging from beginner to advanced and Nia, an uplifting movement that reflects dance, martial arts and healing arts.

The studio is also the West Side Maui Academy of Performing Arts center for children’s dance.

The studio is proud to host various workshops and events given by their certified instructors and visiting trainers. Island Spirit Yoga is committed to having a positive impact in the community. The studio frequently donates to island schools, charities and organizations.

Island Spirit Yoga has been voted “Best Yoga Studio on Maui” in 2010 and 2012 (runner-up in 2013). The location is convenient with plenty of parking right behind Ace Hardware in central Lahaina. And remember: the first yoga class is free for any kama’aina.
