KAANAPALI – On the afternoon of Sept. 8, the management team of The Westin Maui Resort & Spa accepted the challenge issued by Maritz Travel to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Led by resort General Manager Gregg Lundberg and Hotel Manager William Fong, the team showed up in the true spirit of aloha by the resort’s pools.

Organized as a two-tiered challenge, Fong and Seth Eason, Stephanie Zrelak and Sulinn Aipa were drenched with buckets of ice and water by fellow team managers Amy Petersen, Michael Agdeppa, Marshall Gallen and Garret Fujieda.

Lundberg then took on the challenge as he slid down the resort’s water slide while coworkers waited at the bottom of the slide to pour buckets of ice and water.

“In the spirit of helping those in need while having a bit of fun, we now issue a challenge to the Westin resorts on the islands on Kauai, Oahu, as well as our sister resort in Maui, The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas,” said Fong.

Supporting Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ (Hawaii) mission to raise funds for ALS, Westin Maui’s Relish Burger Bistro will also be donating its September proceeds from the Table 53 program toward ALS.
