LAHAINA – Soroptimist International of West Maui has awarded its annual “Women of Opportunity” grants to three local Maui women.
The grants are provided to single, head of household working mothers to help them defray education costs.
All of the grant recipients, including Chastity Cadaoas and Deborah Rabara, are currently working and attending school to improve their lives and the lives of their families. These monetary awards will assist these women in reaching their goals.
At Lahaina’s Second Friday Town Party on May 9, Soroptimists will hold a silent auction at Campbell Park to raise money for these awards and for scholarships for local high school students.
The auction will include items generously donated by Maui and Oahu sponsors, including dining certificates, hotel nights, spa and salon treatments, Maui activities and shows.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, PA, Soroptimist International offers programs that improve the lives of women and girls through social and economic empowerment.
Each year, about $1.6 million is disbursed through its award-winning programs.
Soroptimist International, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies on charitable donations to support its programs, also powers LiveYourDream.org, an online community offering volunteer opportunities in support of women and girls.
