Fuel up to benefit Maui kupuna

By Staff | Dec 26, 2013

KAHULUI – Another Ohana Fuels location has been added on Maui, where residents can fill up and help Maui kupuna.

Ohana Fuels’ newest Lahaina location is now open at 10 Kupuohi St.

A portion of each Ohana Fuels gasoline purchase on Maui through Dec. 31, 2013, will be donated to Hale Makua Health Services.

Proceeds will assist Hale Makua long-term care residents who cannot afford the cost of living at a nursing home, and will help further the organization’s mission to improve the well-being of those in their care through compassionate personalized health services in their homes.

Other participating Ohana Fuels locations include 85 Wakea Avenue in Kahului, 1100 Makawao Avenue in Makawao and 3310-A Haleakala Highway in Pukalani.

Hale Makua Health Services is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation established in 1946 to provide a home for elders who had no one to care for them or means to pay for care.

It is the only Eden Alternative-registered home in the State of Hawaii, and it’s one of Maui’s largest non-government employers.

Over 450 employees serve two nursing homes; a home health care agency, including adult foster family case management; a rehab center that specializes in both in and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies; an adult day health center; and an adult residential care home.
