Sheraton Maui to mark 50 years with time capsule and blessing
KAANAPALI – The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa will wrap up its yearlong golden anniversary with a celebration of “50 Timeless Years of Sheraton Maui” on Sunday, Dec. 29.
The resort invites guests to join an evening dedicated to the rich history of the Sheraton Maui, featuring a time capsule presentation, blessing of the resort, hula and live music by Leokani.
“This evening is about bringing together the elements of the past and looking forward to the next 50 years,” said Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa General Manager Tetsuji Yamazaki. “It is a privilege to share the rich, 50-year history of the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and preserve it for future generations to discover and enjoy.”
Doors open at 4 p.m. to the Ocean Lawn for a vintage car display by Maui Classic Cruisers, entertainment by the trio Leokani, the legacy of the Danny Kapoi Trio, and keiki hula by Na Pua Melia, with iconic Pu’u Keka’a in the background. At 5:45 p.m., the resort’s 50-year tradition of the nightly cliff diving ceremony takes place, followed by a resort blessing and time capsule presentation.
Sheraton Maui Executive Chef Greg Gaspar will prepare specialty food stations, with a cash bar serving beer, wine, mai tais and the special anniversary Makana cocktail.
Admission is $19.63, which includes pupus, one beverage and entertainment; children under five will be admitted free of charge. Special packages are available for the event.
