Ka Lima O Maui to hold Job Fair
WAILUKU – Ka Lima O Maui, a nonprofit organization that specializes in helping adults with disabilities with job skills training and employment services, announced its participation in National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October.
The purpose of NDEAM is to educate the public about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
Each October, the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Disability Employment Policy chooses a theme in honor of NDEAM.
This year’s theme is “Because We Are EQUAL to the Task,” to showcase how people with disabilities have the same skills, training, education and aspiration to be a successful employee in the workforce.
Reflecting this year’s theme, Ka Lima O Maui will hold its second annual Job Fair on Friday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MEO classrooms located at 99 Mahalani St. in Wailuku.
The job fair is open to all persons with disabilities; there is no cost to attend.
Employers such as Walmart, Starbucks, Lowe’s, Kmart, Macy’s, HC&S, Maui Memorial Medical Center, Hyatt Regency Maui, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Old Navy, Minit Stop, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, Maui County Federal Credit Union, TSA, Habitat for Humanity, Whole Foods, Destination Resorts and The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui will be in attendance.
All disability service providers and their clients are encouraged to attend.
Ka Lima O Maui has been “Enhancing Lives Through Self-Reliance” since 1955 by providing a variety of different services, such as Grounds and Custodial Services, Job Placement Programs and the Medicaid Waiver Program.
