Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa to celebrate 50 years at dinner event
KAANAPALI – The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa will continue its year-long 50th Anniversary celebration with a special dinner at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11.
The event, “50 Classic Years of Sheraton Maui,” will treat guests to an evening celebrating the rich lifestyle and fanfare the resort has enjoyed since its 1963 opening.
Located beachfront on the Ocean Lawn, “50 Classic Years of Sheraton Maui” will showcase the signature styles of the resort’s 1963 opening.
Evening highlights will include a vintage car display by Maui Classic Cruisers and models exhibiting resort fashions of the popular Hawaiian designer Tori Richard.
Guests will be entertained by the performing trio Leokani, the legacy of Discovery Room entertainer Danny Kapoi Trio, while enjoying a family-style dinner with iconic Pu’u Keka’a (Black Rock) in the background.
As a nod to the year that the resort first welcomed visitors, Sheraton Maui Executive Chef Greg Gaspar has prepared a four-course feast for $19.63 per person.
The menu includes chilled papaya wrapped with prosciutto, cherry tomatoes stuffed with Maine bay shrimp, and Waipoli greens with grilled Big Island hearts of palm and passion fruit vinaigrette.
The main course includes Hawaii Rancher’s grilled ribeye steak with Ali’i Mushrooms and Tahitian pepper-spiced, pan-roasted Pacific salmon. Dessert will include Fuji Apple fruit tarts with Vermont cheddar cheese, Hawaiian sweet bread pudding with chocolate sauce and assorted anniversary offerings.
“We invite our guests and kama’aina to step back to yesteryear and join us in this golden anniversary celebration,” said General Manager Tetsuji Yamazaki.
“We’ve brought all the elements together to celebrate the rich history of our resort.”
The opening of the Sheraton Maui marked the onset of tourism to Maui and Kaanapali.
