Center hosts business workshops

WAILUKU – The county Office of Economic Development holds free workshops at the Maui County Business Resource Center in Maui Mall across from Pizza Hut.

Seating for all workshops is limited. To register, call the center at 873-8247.

“Is Your Business Ready for the Next Level?” with instructor Evette Lau will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from noon to 1 p.m.

Are you in need of a training facility, conference room, office space or a commercial kitchen to take the next step in your business? Lokahi Pacific’s Pono Center has it all for you. Lau, small business counselor at the Pono Center, will cover the incubator programs and go over all of the services available to the community.

“Business on the Grill with Maui Business Brainstormers” will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at noon. Meet other business owners and managers. Share and learn with thought-provoking questions, answers and coaching. To register, visit www.meetup. com/MauiBusinessBraintormers.

“How to Market Your Business on Facebook” with Nicole Fisher is slated for Wednesday, Aug. 21, from noon to 1:15 p.m. Learn how to use a Facebook “Business Page,” how to build apps, and do postings, future posts and timelines.

“Build Your Business Through Online Customer Reviews” with Bob and Josh Sommers will be held on Friday, Aug. 23, from noon to 1 p.m.

Bob and Josh Sommers, founders of the Internet Marketing Association of Hawaii and creators of the Five-Star Review System, will show you how to become the most trusted service provider in your industry through the acquisition of five-star customer reviews and referrals.

Learn how to dominate the first page of Google with multiple listings, the easiest way to acquire five-star reviews from your customers, how to easily increase the number of customer reviews, and how to generate referrals – even when you forget to ask.

“Affordable Care Act, Health Insurance and My Business” with Nikki Baysa will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

There’s been quite a buzz about the Affordable Care Act since it was conceived and signed into law. Like it or not, the way we deal with healthcare costs as individuals and as business owners will now forever change.

Are you a small business owner who is worried how all these changes will affect your bottom line? This workshop will help you understand some of the basics of the Affordable Care Act, Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP), the Hawaii health insurance marketplace (the Connector) and the small business tax credits. Participants of this workshop will also learn about low-cost and no-cost health insurance coverage for individuals, families and part-time employees.

“QuickBooks for Small Business” with Richard Kehoe will be held on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. The fee for this class is $45.

Learn to set up your company’s QuickBooks in a small class setting with personalized tutoring. This class for new users will teach you how to record sales, receive payments, prepare invoices and balance your checkbook. Follow-up appointments are offered at no cost.
