Madam Maui Gift and Craft Fair offers gifts, crafts, jewelry, resort ware, collectables, antiques and Hawaiiana.

LAHAINA – A worldwide treasure hunter and collector for over 50 years, Kay Audette recently opened Madam Maui Gift and Craft Fair at Anchor Square in Lahaina.

“I’ve had gift and antique stores for 40 years, including the last ten at Napili Plaza Gift and Craft Fair,” said Audette.

The store at 222 Papalaua St., Suite 110, features gifts, crafts, jewelry, resort ware – “new, used and unabused,” she said – collectables, antiques and Hawaiiana.

Grand opening specials include 50 percent off on resort ware and collectables through Aug. 31.

“I’m in a much smaller store now and need to reduce my inventory. Besides having many locally made products, I have treasures from around the world, as I never know what I’ll find in my treasure hunting,” Audette said.

Her last store was in Morro Bay, California, and called Madam and The Cowboy. “When I moved here, friends said I had to be Madam Maui,” she said.

A seamstress and designer, Audette makes one-size-fits-all cover ups that she calls “Love Wraps – because they feel so wonderful to wear.”

“Decorating comes natural to me. It’s a gift,” she added.

Madam Maui Gift and Craft Fair is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment. For information, call (808) 463-9680.

Audette’s stores have made an impression on customers.

She explained, “These are some of the wonderful comments I’ve received about my stores: ‘This is the most different store I’ve ever been in.’ ‘You’ve got a great sense of humor.’ ‘This store is special.’ ‘Your store looks like one giant tea party.’ “
