Three LHS graduates to receive Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation scholarships

WAILUKU – The Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation will award $1,000 scholarships to 14 graduating high school seniors and one Maui Culinary Academy student.

“We are pleased to announce the 2013 Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation scholarship recipients,” said Sharon Zalsos, foundation president.

“Each of the scholars have excelled academically, received numerous awards and are also very active in the community. They are a shining example of Maui’s future. We congratulate them and look forward to their continued success.”

The recipients include Lahainaluna High School graduates Paige Cajudoy, Junna Gazmen and Vincent Magno Jr. Also receiving a $1,000 scholarship is Lahaina resident Lindsay Hunt.

Cajudoy plans to major in pharmacology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is the daughter of Antonio Cajudoy and Maricris Feliciano-Cajudoy.

Magno

Gazmen plans to major in finance at the University of Portland. She is the daughter of Jesus and Zenaida Gazmen.

Magno plans to major in nursing at the University of Washington. He is the son of Samuel and Margie Castillo.

Hunt, who is an assistant pastry chef at Honu Seafood and Pizza, will be in her final year at the Maui Culinary Academy at the University of Hawaii Maui College.

The other scholarship recipients are Alicia Ballesteros of St. Anthony; Kaylee Correa, Sai Furukawa and Kaili Mossman of Kamehameha Schools Maui; Mark Galiza, Steffi Molina, Raeann Mukini and Angelo Sanakli of Maui High School; Shaina Macapulay and Keisha Mateo of Baldwin High School; and Teianna-Lei Shirota of King Kekaulike.

The scholars will be officially presented at the June 19 Gintong Pamana Leadership & Scholarship Awards Banquet at the Maui Beach Hotel.
