Empty Bowl Project raises $12,000 for Maui organizations
LAHAINA – Star Noodle and the Maui Organization for the Ceramic Arts (MOCA) recently came together to celebrate the second annual Empty Bowl Project at Star Noodle.
More than 700 people enjoyed an evening of food, art and entertainment for a very worthy cause. This year, over 300 hand-crafted ceramic bowls were made and sold to support Maui Food Bank, Hale Mahaolu and the West Maui Girls Basketball Club.
Maui Food Bank and Hale Mahaolu each received $5,000, and $2,000 went to the basketball club.
Empty Bowl Project is an international grassroots effort to help fight hunger. Events have taken place across the United States and in at least a dozen other countries. Millions of dollars have been raised and donated to hunger-fighting organizations.
