Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance Celebration set
WAILUKU – The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance Celebration for Maui is slated for Monday, Jan. 21. The public is invited to participate.
Opening ceremonies at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Stone of Hope Monument at the County Building – commemorating the Stone of Hope Monument in Washington, D.C. – start at 8:30 a.m.
Mayor Alan Arakawa will sign a proclamation marking this celebration to honor King at 8:45 a.m.
Next, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March in commemoration of the March on Washington will commence from the Stone of Hope to Wailuku Coffee Company at 26 N. Market St. for a Dr. King Tribute and Celebration from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Festivities will continue with entertainment at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring Bobby Ingram, Gene Argel & Band and other tributes to Dr. King.
