By Staff | Nov 15, 2012

Jay Serle said, “My goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment where people — be it individuals, couples, families or keiki — can come and work on their issues in order to reach their individual potentials.”

LAHAINA – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Jay Serle recently opened an office at 181 Lahainaluna Road, Suite E.

A West Maui resident for over 18 years, Serle worked for the County of Maui for five years and helped adults, children, adolescents and families as a behavioral health specialist with the Hawaii Department of Education.

Most recently, he was the Maui clinical site supervisor for a major health management company that cared for Maui’s severely mentally ill population.

In that capacity, Serle collaboratively worked with Maui Memorial Medical Center’s psychiatric unit, Maui’s Adult Mental Health Division office and other local mental health case management companies.

Serle is excited to open his private practice, where he will be able to work directly with and serve the West Maui community.

“I had always planned to open a private practice in West Maui and am really excited about this new opportunity. It’s an area of great need,” he said.

“Having lived and been a part of the West Side for a long time, I have a great working knowledge of not only the culture and the people here, but I’m a member of the community. This is my home. As a member of the community, I think it is important to care for our community.”

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Night and weekend appointments may be offered.

Most insurances are accepted. In the majority of circumstances, clients will only need to pay their insurance co-pay, which is mandated by insurance companies. For more information, call (808) 385-1574.
