Maui Prep announces promotions
NAPILI – Maui Preparatory Academy, West Maui’s only accredited college preparatory day school for grades Pre-Kindergarten to 12, announced staffing additions and promotions for the 2012 school year.
Ryan Kirkham, formerly the director of student life and athletics and Upper School science faculty member, has been promoted to the position of Middle and Upper School principal.
Originally from British Columbia, Kirkham studied at Trinity Western University and is currently engaged in a Masters of Educational Leadership and Management program at Royal Roads University. Kirkham is a founding faculty member of Maui Prep and an active member of the Maui community.
Kawika Casco, formerly physical education faculty member for the entire school, has been promoted to athletic director.
Casco will retain his position as a teaching faculty member but will also oversee all athletic endeavors for the school, including Maui Interscholastic League teams and activities.
Born and raised on Maui, Casco was a standout athlete at Lahainaluna High School. He went on to attend the University of Utah on a football scholarship and was on teams that played in the Las Vegas, Liberty, Emerald and Fiesta Bowl games.
Faculty additions include Angie Glass, preschool teacher; Dr. Kathleen Ireland, Upper School science faculty; Kay Milne, art teacher; and Kristie Fetterly, Middle School English faculty.
