Weekend golf tourney to benefit Napili Kai Beach Foundation

The Napili Kai Foundation golf tournament scheduled for play at the Bay Course this weekend benefits the non-profit's travel program.
NAPILI – There is still time to sign up for play in the first annual Napili Kai Beach Foundation Golf Tournament slated to tee off at the Bay Course in Kapalua on Sunday Sept. 2.
It’s a 7 a.m. shot gun start. Cost is $125. The format is a two-man scramble.
“We’ve got lots of prizes; now we need more players,” Johnathan Galarita, the contest chair, announced.
Proceeds will benefit the Foundation Travel Program.
“We have been invited to perform at the Washington State Hawaiian Civic Club Annual Hula Fest,” Galarita explained.
His daughter Jordin has danced with the foundation performers for the past seven years.
“Our mission is to ‘perpetuate the cultural legacy of Hawaii through the children of Maui,'” he added.
The nonprofit introduces West Side youth to the dances, language, history, arts and crafts of Polynesia.
For the past 46 years, the Foundation keiki perform weekly at the Napili Kai Beach Resort, sharing what they have learned about the culture and Aloha of Hawaii with visitors and residents.
The nonprofit also awards scholarships to its graduates.
The foundation is seeking support for this worthwhile cause through donations of silent auction items or two identical prizes or gift certificates to meet the two-man scramble format.
Sponsors for one or more holes are available at $150 each.
Donations are tax deductible.
“Your name will be prominently displayed as a donor,” Galarita promised.
