KIHEI – Former Hawaii residents and Mainland college students interested in returning to the islands to work in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers should circle Friday, Aug. 3, on their calendars.

Maui Economic Development Board’s Women in Technology (WIT) will host its first “Kama’aina Come Home Expo” at MEDB’s Ke Alahele Center in Kihei from noon to 2 p.m.

The expo is expected to attract kama’aina who are home for the summer, as well as those looking to return home and find out what Maui’s science and tech world has to offer.

“The steady growth of large Mainland firms, as well as expanding local businesses in Maui County, has created a strong demand for kama’ainas seeking entry level and experienced positions,” said Mapu Quitazol, WIT project manager.

“Our ‘Kama’aina Come Home’ event is helping to bring home local talent to fill in-demand jobs.”

To pre-register and upload your resume, visit www.hightechmaui.com/kchexpo/registration1.cfm. Those who pre-register will be placed in the KCH database with their resume for three years; the database will be accessible to the tech company partners.

For those needing help with their resumes, Jon Sakurai-Horita from Kama’aina Careers will host a resume writing workshop in MEDB’s Donald G. Malcolm Center from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2.
