Salvation Army to present seminars on estate planning

By Staff | May 10, 2012

LAHAINA – The Salvation Army is offering a free educational seminar designed to help people understand how they can benefit from estate planning and charitable giving.

The “Lunch & Learn” seminar will be held on two dates and locations: Thursday, May 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army Lahaina Corps at 131 Shaw St., and Friday, May 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Kahului Corps at 45 W. Kamehameha St.

Subjects that guest presenters Elizabeth Ivey (an attorney) and gift planner Ellen Kazama will explain in plain English include estate, financial and gift planning; tax law changes; Hawaii’s new estate tax; structure and benefits of a living trust; vital legal tools that many people overlook; and turning underproductive real estate into an income stream.

Lunch will be served. Seating is limited, so reservations are necessary. No solicitations will be made at the seminar.

To register, call 661-5335 in Lahaina or 871-6270 in Kahului.
