Maui Brewing Co. hosting benefit for Hawaii Canines for Independence
KAHANA – Maui Brewing Co. in Kahana will host “Wag Your Tails for Maui Ales!” on Friday, April 27, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Maui Brewing Co. will donate half of the proceeds from its house beers and the pizza special to Hawaii Canines for Independence.
HCI provides people with physical disabilities specially trained dogs that give them the freedom and confidence to live more independent lives.
Maui Brewing Co. is also sponsoring HCI in the Maui Visitor Industry Charity Walk.
HCI is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that has been serving children and adults with physical disabilities in Hawaii for the past 12 years.
The organization is able to provide its services and dogs free of charge through donations from individuals, businesses and foundations.
Current programs and services include assistance dogs, seizure dogs, hospital facility dogs, community outreach programs, the Courthouse Dog Program, Wounded Warrior Program, Scent Detection Research and intern training. Visit www.hawaiicanines.com for information.
Recipients are offered follow-up support from HCI for the lifetime of their dog. This includes home visits and additional training as the person’s needs change.
HCI founders Mo and Will Maurer, several volunteers, a few of the puppies in training and possibly a few of the graduate dogs will be there Friday.
