KAPALUA – Kapalua Golf, managed by Troon Golf, announced that Ben Hongo has been selected as Kapalua Golf Academy’s director of instruction effective immediately.

Hongo, a Class A member of the PGA of America since 1992, began his tenure with Kapalua Golf in 1989 and was selected to join Kapalua Golf Academy in 2000.

One of the most respected instructors in Hawaii, Hongo’s awards include Aloha Section PGA Teacher of the Year and Hawaii’s Junior Golf Leader. For the fourth time, he made the list of “Best Teachers in Hawaii” by Golf Digest.

Mike Jones, general manager of Kapalua Golf, said, “We are thrilled to have Ben as our director of instruction.

He will play an integral role in our success, as his position expands to oversee day-to-day operations, revenue generation and program development. Ben is an accomplished player and instructor and has been a leader in developing junior golf in West Maui.”

Hongo commented, “I am honored and excited to be selected as director of instruction at Hawaii’s top-ranked instructional facility. We have a tremendous team, and I look forward to adding to the already stellar foundation and reputation of Kapalua Golf Academy.”
