LAHAINA – Featuring brand new and nearly new baby clothing, furniture, toys, maternity wear, handmade items and much more, Angel Baby Consignment Boutique recently opened in Lahaina.
The community is invited to the store’s official blessing and Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, March 10, at noon at 1087 Limahana Place, Suite 5B (behind Taco Bell and next to West Maui Cycles).
Owner and founder Janet Gilroy started this boutique as a way to help the community “provide valuable resources to one another in a much needed area that was overlooked.
“As we all know, Maui is very limited on baby resources around the island. This baby boutique and consignment store is a fresh new resource that is desperately needed on the West Side of Maui.”
Angel Baby Consignment Boutique offers baby clothes and shoes, baby furniture and toys, maternity wear, books and DVDs, as well as handmade baby gifts and a wide variety of rental items for newborns up to children eight years old.
“It is designed to be a one-stop shop for your everyday needs,” Gilroy noted.
Consignors are always welcome, as well as any special requests for items.
The store currently accepts consignment items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. They must be freshly laundered, in “like new” condition and ready to display.
“By offering a wide variety of items, it creates a vehicle for each of us to share with one another. As we welcome our community to be a part of this exciting consignment opportunity, we are also providing unique selections at affordable prices,” she commented.
Gilroy said the boutique will offer an in-store baby registry service called “Mommy’s Wish List,” as well as customized baby shower items to include diaper cakes, favors and gifts.
When asked how the store originated, Gilroy explained that she felt compelled to find a need in West Maui and fill it.
She is also inspired by her late husband, Thomas Gilroy, who passed away on April 10, 2010. Thomas always supported her efforts to help others.
Another factor is a blessing for Gilroy: exciting news of a grandchild on the way.
Frustrated with the limited resources on Maui, Gilroy realized “there was a tremendous need for maternity wear on the island as opposed to having to shop online.”
Her desire to help her daughter prompted the birth of Angel Baby Consignment Boutique.
Angel Baby Consignment Boutique launched with a soft opening on Feb. 7, 2012.
“The overwhelming excitement and positive encouragement of each and every person who has come through the doors is confirmation that Angel Baby is here to stay,” Gilroy said.
“Our philosophy is simple: ‘If you continually give, you will continually live.’ We are here to support our local community and will be donating all unsold baby items to assist the Pearson Foundation on Maui, a nonprofit organization. This desire to give back, is the very essence of my dream, which is ultimately to create a home for unwed mothers on Maui.”
The store is open Mondays to Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information, call 667-ANGL (2645), e-mail angelbabymaui@gmail.com or “like” Angel Baby Consignment Boutique’s Facebook page to receive store updates.
