WAILEA – The Art of Peter Max Gallery will celebrate its Grand Opening in The Shops at Wailea with Peter Max scheduled to be in attendance for two gallery events.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m., Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie will be presented with an original painting of the Hawaiian Flag created especially for him by Max.

Then on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m., Max will greet collectors and fans in the gallery, and draw a personal dedication on the back of any painting purchased at the gallery on Saturday or during the weeks leading up to the event. Both events are open to the public.

In celebration of the opening, Max has created a new installation of original acrylic paintings on display at the new gallery in Wailea.

The collection includes the artist’s “Maui Series,” which depicts scenic images of Maui wrapped in the kaleidoscope of vivid colors that are his trademark.

This rare series is available exclusively at the new Wailea gallery – one of only two galleries in the world that exclusively offers for sale the artwork of Max.
