LAHAINA – The facelift is complete, and the new kid on the block – Maui Family Furniture – is off to a colorful start as the newest home improvement outlet in Lahaina.

Located at 1000 Limahana adjacent to the Sugar Cane Train Depot in the Lahaina Industrial area, Maui Family Furniture fills a void in West Maui by offering quality home furnishings at affordable prices.

Open since June 2011 and expanding ever since, Maui Family Furniture is the newest endeavor for Dan Reardon, who also owns West Maui Gold and Loan.

As a capstone to the opening of this new store, the staff has unveiled a vibrant wall mural at the back of the complex parking lot.

The mural – the work of aspiring Maui artist Reuben Cantere – has brightened up the neighborhood with its colorful depiction of creatures of the land, sea and sky.

Reardon said, “I always wanted to do something with that wall, so we had Reuben come in and put up his work. We light it up at night.”

In the current economy, thrift has become fashionable, “and we like to think of ourselves as an environmentally friendly business buying and selling used furniture. We have living room, bedroom and dining sets, artwork and frames, bookshelves and desks – all kinds of unique stuff for your home,” he said.

“I’ve always been a ‘garage sale’ type of person, and I like to collect all kinds of stuff, especially the unusual things like we have at West Maui Gold and Loan. This is a good way to save money and furnish your home.”

Maui Family Furniture is open from seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has a local, knowledgeable and friendly staff.

“We invite everyone to come down and check out this great work of art and browse around our two-story, 5,000-square-foot showroom. We’re sure you’ll find something interesting and/or useful for your home or business.”
