Duke’s Beach House celebrates anniversary with charity donation

The Movember Team at Duke’s Beach House raised almost $1,800.

KAANAPALI – Duke’s Beach House recently celebrated its two-year anniversary with the announcement of its 2011 Legacy of Aloha recipient at a private celebration.

The oceanfront restaurant raised nearly $1,800 for Movember, an international campaign that strives to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancers that affect men, specifically prostate cancer.

The anniversary party featured pupus and live entertainment by Henry Kapono.

“Over the last two years, our restaurant has grown to become a close and supportive family,” said Duke’s Beach House General Manager Shaughn Helliar.

“Not only do we work together, but we also participate in local community sporting events, support each others’ families and friends in need, and as is the case with Movember, ban together to support a humanitarian cause we all believe in.”

A group of employees at Duke’s Beach House created a Movember team encouraging employees, visitors and community members to support the global initiative by either donating money or pledging to grow out a mustache throughout the month of November.

“In addition to the Movember Legacy of Aloha donation, the anniversary party is also our way of saying ‘mahalo’ to our employees and customers who have all contributed to the restaurant’s success,” Helliar concluded.
