2012 PGA Tour to begin at Kapalua

KAPALUA – The 2012 PGA Tour season kicks off Jan. 5-9 at The Plantation Course with the 2012 Hyundai Tournament of Champions – a unique, winners-only event.
The field will include 2011 Kapalua champion Jonathan Byrd, Mark Wilson, Chris Kirk, Nick Watney, D.A. Points, Martin Laird, David Toms and other 2011 PGA Tour event winners.
The tournament dates for official play begin with the pro-am on Thursday, Jan. 5, continuing with four rounds of professional competition Jan. 6-9. The tournament is now scheduled to end on Monday.
Limited spots in the tournament’s pro-am may be available. Those interested in playing should contact the Hyundai Tournament of Champions’ tournament office at 665-9160 or toll-free at (888) 665-9160 for more information.
Tickets for competition rounds on Jan. 6-9 are on sale now at www.pgatour.com/hyundai.
Thursday’s pro-am round will be free to all spectators.
The tournament will allow all youth ages 18 and under (accompanied by a ticketed adult) into the tournament free of charge all week long.
Military (active duty, retired and reserve) and their dependents will also be permitted onsite for free for the entire week. Military members should bring their military ID to the gate for admission.
Gates open at 7 a.m. on Thursday, 8 a.m. Friday through Sunday and 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
For competition rounds, one-day tickets are $15. Weekly tickets are $40 in advance.
