KAANAPALI – Duke’s Beach House recognized Michelle Golis, Desirae Kapuras and Rufina Espiritu of Princess Nahienaena Elementary School as its “Educators of the Month” for August, September and October, respectively.

The program acknowledges individuals who demonstrate a commitment to the betterment of the community through education.

“The educators in our community do an excellent job at keeping our youth on track for successful futures,” said Shaughn Helliar, general manager at Duke’s Beach House.

“We’re very proud to recognize these three particular educators for their hard work and ongoing support of the students at Princess Nahienaena Elementary.”

Golis, a first grade teacher, enjoys seeing the sparkle in the eyes of students when they learn a new concept and gain more confidence. She has been an educator for 20 years.

Kapuras is an English Language Learner (ELL) teacher responsible for instructing students who lack proficiency in English and need additional instruction in their academic work. In her ten years of teaching, Kapuras’ most memorable moments come when the “light bulb” shines above her students’ heads.

Espiritu serves as an Educational Assistant III and has been an educator for 11 years. She most enjoys working with students at the kindergarten level, because of the amazing ability for such young students to absorb learning so easily.
