WAILUKU – Maui Memorial Medical Center (MMMC) last week announced the appointment of Leslie B. Chun, M.D., to the newly created position of chief of clinical and medical affairs.
Dr. Chun will lead all non-nursing clinical areas and oversee case management/social work, quality and patient safety, and clinical service line development.
Chun most recently served as director of health care quality and a hospitalist at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, a 280-plus-bed community teaching hospital affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts University School of Medicine and a part of Partners Health Care, the largest health care system in New England. Dr. Chun was also a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty.
Previously, he was medical director of clinical development for Health Dialog Analytic Solutions in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the nation’s leading disease management companies.
“Dr. Chun is an extraordinary asset to our executive team,” Maui Region Chief Executive Officer Wesley Lo said. “His enthusiasm and qualifications will bring an invigorated and fresh perspective to Maui Memorial.”
Dr. Chun will work closely with Joanne Iritani, MMMC chief nurse executive, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rod Bjordahl in efforts to strengthen clinical capabilities at the hospital.
