KAANAPALI — Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii last week named Gregg Lundberg general manager of The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kaanapali.

The company also announced that Angela Nolan is the new general manager for The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas.

“Gregg’s extensive background in hospitality and familiarity with our Maui properties is a huge asset to the Starwood Hawaii family,” said Keith Vieira, senior vice president and director of operations for Starwood in Hawaii and French Polynesia. “We’re delighted that he will be bringing his innovative spirit and expertise to The Westin Maui Resort & Spa.”

Lundberg has served in the hospitality industry for the past 24 years, including working as general manager of The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas since 2003, where under his leadership the property received the ACE Project of Excellence, the highest accolade of the vacation ownership resort industry from the American Resort Development Association.

His proactive leadership and guidance in the sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives of The Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas included setting up a sustainability council and other efforts that led to the resort’s inclusion as a finalist for the 2010 Hawaii Pacific Business News’ “Innovative Company of the Year Award.”

He also served as general manager of The Westin St. John Resort & Villas, U.S. Virgin Islands, from 1998 to 2002.

Before joining Starwood, Lundberg served on the opening teams for the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa, Hyatt Regency Kauai and Grand Hyatt Wailea, now known as the Grand Wailea Resort). He also broadened his experience abroad at the Signature Hotel Group and the Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Lundberg is active in the community, serving on the boards of the Kaanapali North Beach Masters Association, Maui Police Commission, American Resort Developers Association, Maui Hotel and Lodging Association, Maui Visitors Bureau and Kaanapali Beach Resort Association.

Since April 2010, Nolan has served as hotel manager for The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas and played an instrumental role in the resort’s inclusion as an AAA-approved, Four Diamond resort in 2011 and 2012.

This recognition was a first for the resort and also ensured its ranking in the Top Ten listing of Lahaina hotels in TripAdvisor in 2011.

Nolan ventured into the hospitality industry in 1995 with a college internship at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa and formally started her career with Starwood in 1997.

Since then, she has held leadership positions at the Kapalua Bay Hotel and Sheraton Maui Resort. Nolan played an integral senior leadership role in the opening of Trump International Hotel and Tower Las Vegas in 2008 and the Planet Hollywood Towers by Westgate, Las Vegas in 2009.

“Angela’s passion for hospitality has proved effective in her impressive work with senior-level management at both local and Mainland properties,” said Vieira. “We’re excited to see this passion thrive even more in her new role as general manager for The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas.”
