KAANAPALI — The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa appointed Cindy Dugan as the new general manager of Japengo, the resort’s new Pacific Rim Restaurant and Sushi Lounge.
With more than ten years of management experience, Dugan has an extensive background in both hospitality and food and beverage industries.
Prior to her appointment as general manager of Japengo, Dugan served as the food and beverage manager of the Hyatt Regency Maui, overseeing operations of breakfast outlets (including in-room dining), coffee bar, Swan Court and Regency Club.
“Since the opening of the restaurant in December 2010, Japengo has been well-received by locals and visitors as Maui’s hottest new dining destination,” said Michael Jokovich, general manager at Hyatt Regency Maui.
“We are confident that with Cindy’s vast experience in the hospitality industry and strong food and beverage background, Japengo will continue as a culinary trendsetter among Maui’s restaurants while providing the highest quality of service.”
A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Dugan launched her career with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center in 2004. There, she held various positions, including catering administrative assistant and meeting concierge and catering/convention service coordinator, before joining Hyatt Regency O’Hare as the convention service manager.
In 2008, Dugan was promoted to catering manager and regional daylight key operator at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare. Two years later, she was promoted to associate director of convention services, a position she held until 2011.
