Duarte promoted to battalion chief

WAILUKU — Maui Fire Department recently promoted Allen Duarte to the rank of battalion chief.

Duarte, 47, is the son of former Maui County Fire Chief Thomas Duarte. He began his own career at MFD ten years ago at the Lahaina and Wailuku fire stations.

In 2004, he was promoted to captain and served at Lahaina and Paia for five years.

He currently serves as the Maui County Fire Department’s wildland coordinator.

In his spare time, Duarte also serves as head coach for the St. Anthony Junior/Senior High School track team. He is married with four children.
