Polo’s Palms Nursery to auction over $500,000 in inventory

HAIKU — The largest palm nursery in the state, Polo’s Palms LLC in East Maui, will be closing and liquidating its entire inventory of palm trees on Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m.

Container grown from one- to 20-gallon size, the trees will be sold in various sizes.

Thousands of areca, royal, fox tail, Manila, Phoenix, rhapis, bottleneck, ponytail, triangle, betel nut, traveler, bamboo and coco palms will be sold.

“The palms are in excellent condition and have been lovingly cared-for,” said owner Paul Batakis.

Irrigation equipment and nursery supplies will also be auctioned off, including a GMC three-quarter-ton truck, backhoe, Jeep Wrangler and pots.

The auction will be held rain or shine. Partial proceeds will benefit the East Maui Animal Refuge (Boo Boo Zoo), a nonprofit rehabilitation sanctuary for injured and orphaned animals.

Polo’s Palms is located near Twin Falls at 57 S. Honokala Road.
