Kupanaha debuts new show

Kupanaha stars world-renowned illusionists Jody Baran and Kathleen.
KAANAPALI — Kupanaha, a Magic Show Dinner Theater at Kaanapali Beach Hotel, recently marked its 2,500th performance with grand opening festivities and a brand new production.
“Seven Magicians Came to Hawaii and One Stayed” premiered April 5 in the resort’s Kanahele Room.
Four years in development, in the new production, world-renowned illusionists Jody Baran & Kathleen present spectacular illusions from the repertoire of seven of the world’s great magicians who visited Hawaii in the last century.
Some of the highlights include Harry Houdini’s “Great Escape,” Charles Carter’s “Sawing a Lady in Half” and Howard Thurston’s “Levitation of the Island Princess.”
Interpretations of Hawaiian hula by the Kupanaha Dancers under the direction of Iokepa and Tammy Aricayos Cabanilla, pre-show table side magic, a selection of beverages and cocktails from the Lava Bar and white-glove service of a three-course feast from award-winning Chef Tom Muromoto make for a unique Magic Dinner Theater experience.
Voted “Maui’s Most Amazing Magic Show” by Maui Island Guide and Driving Magazine, Kupanaha is presented Tuesday through Saturday with check-in at 4:30 p.m. The experience is a three-and-a-half-hour evening of nonstop entertainment.
Gold Circle front row seats are $89. General seating is $79 for adults, $55 for teens and $39 for children ages 6-12; keiki under six are free.
Validated self-parking is offered for patrons of the event. Show reservations, as well as room reservations at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, can be made by calling 667-0128 or 262-8450.
