‘Fundamentals of Fundraising’ to be presented on Maui

KAHULUI — For the first time on Maui, the “Fundamentals of Fundraising” two-day course will be presented on April 27-28 at Cafe O Lei at the Dunes at Maui Lani.

Presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the workshop provides an overview of the fundraising profession and the basics and best practices of fund development for nonprofit staff and board members.

Participants will receive a comprehensive course manual that includes materials for all presented topics: Overview of Fundraising, Developing an Integrated Fundraising Program, Marketing for Ongoing Success, Building and Sustaining Relationships, Securing the Gift, Volunteers-Partners in Fundraising and Management & Accountability.

Development staff, executive directors, board members, fundraising committee members, volunteer leaders and others working in the nonprofit field can benefit from this training and learn practical and useful information to apply at work every day.

Faculty members who will be teaching the course include Monica Grant, Carlayna Nakamura, Colleen Sotomura and Lisa Varde.

All of the instructors have 15 years or more of fundraising experience in Hawaii.

The cost for the two-day course, including all materials, lunch and refreshments, is $350 for AFP members and $395 for nonmembers.

A $60 discount is offered for additional people attending from the same organization.
