Maui Memorial Foundation appoints new development specialist

WAILUKU — Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation last week announced the appointment of Lisa Varde, CFRE, as its new development specialist.

In this newly created position, she will focus on planning and directing all facets of fundraising, including annual giving, special events, planned giving, corporate sponsorships and creating donor cultivation and stewardship programs.

Varde holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with over 15 years of experience in nonprofit fund development.

Her professional career has included positions at St. Francis Medical Center, Honolulu Theatre for Youth and the Hawaii Foodbank.

Prior to joining MMMC Foundation, Varde served as the director of development for the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

“We are so excited to have Lisa join our foundation team,” said Lani Correa, MMMC executive director.

“Her experience and understanding of the nonprofit industry will assist our efforts to support MMMC as it continues to elevate the level of medical care and services here for Maui County,” she continued.

“As our foundation will play an important role in these initiatives, Lisa’s strength with fundraising programs will help to broaden our community outreach efforts, because life is precious.”
