Duke’s to celebrate its one-year anniversary

By Staff | Dec 2, 2010

“The party is our way of thanking everyone who has helped make this year successful. We’re always looking for ways to give back, and the Legacy of Aloha donation to Movember is the perfect opportunity to reach out to a cause that our employees have enthusiastically come together to support,” said Duke’s Beach House General Manager Shaughn Helliar.

KAANAPALI — Duke’s Beach House, the newest addition to T S Restaurants in Hawaii, will host its one-year anniversary party on Friday, Dec. 3, from 3 to 5 p.m.

A portion of the beverage proceeds will go toward the restaurant’s first annual Legacy of Aloha donation.

The celebration will include live entertainment by the legendary Henry Kapono and complimentary pupus.

This year’s Legacy of Aloha main beneficiary is Movember, an international campaign that strives to raise awareness and funds in the fight against cancers that affect men — specifically prostate cancer.

“Our first year has been awesome thanks to our great employees, the visitors and the support of the local community,” said Duke’s Beach House General Manager Shaughn Helliar.

A group of employees at Duke’s Beach House created a Movember team encouraging employees, visitors and community members to support the global initiative by either donating money or pledging to grow out a mustache throughout the month of November.

The restaurant’s Movember team has earned over $450 for the international campaign.

In addition to the Movember donation, Duke’s Beach House will also make donations to various local organizations.

The Legacy of Aloha is a charitable donation program that fulfills Duke’s Beach House’s mission to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture of aloha by giving back to the community.
