KAANAPALI — Duke’s Beach House honored Lori Kaufman and Brian Stoneburner as its August and September “Faculty/Staff Members of the Month,” respectively.
Kaufman and Stoneburner were selected based on their outstanding contributions to Princess Nahienaena Elementary School.
“We started our recognition program at the end of last school year and found that there are quite a few individuals making a difference in our local schools,” said Shaughn Helliar, general manager of Duke’s Beach House.
“Contributions like those of Ms. Kaufman and Mr. Stoneburner should not go unnoticed, which is why Duke’s Beach House is more than happy to continue honoring outstanding faculty and staff this school year.”
Kaufman has spent 18 of her 22 years as an educator teaching at Princess Nahienaena Elementary School. While she is currently a third grade teacher, last year she stepped in as temporary vice principal, assisting with the overall operations of the school. Her passion for teaching is driven by seeing her students’ faces light up when they learn something new and by watching former students graduate from high school.
Stoneburner has worked as custodian at Princess Nahienaena School for 12 years, contributing to facility operations and campus safety. He enjoys the great sense of camaraderie at the school that makes it feel like a second family. He is also very appreciative of his fantastic work crew.
Kaufman and Stoneburner were each presented a $100 gift certificate to Duke’s Beach House.
