‘Drive One 4’ Maui Prep with Jim Falk’s Valley Isle Motors

Michael Nakano (center), who recently retired after 15 years as principal at Lahainaluna High School and a 40-year career with the Hawaii Department of Education, recently dined with his mother at Kimo’s restaurant. That night, Jack Starr and Laura Blears of Kimo’s surprised Nakano by buying his dinner and presenting him with a Guy Buffet print in recognition of his service. The plaque reads, “Happy retirement from your friends at Kimo’s.”
LAHAINA — Ford Motor Company and Jim Falk’s Valley Isle Motors are partnering to help raise up to $6,000 in support of Maui Preparatory Academy as part of the “Drive One 4 UR School” program.
Members of the Lahaina community will have the opportunity to raise money for Maui Preparatory Academy by test driving a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Lahaina Gateway Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ford Motor Company and Valley Isle Motors will donate $20 to Maui Prep for every person from a household who test drives a 2011 Taurus, Fusion Hybrid or Sport, Fiesta, Mustang or Lincoln MKT.
Each test drive will last five minutes. Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license. The limit is one test drive per household.
In addition, Maui Preparatory Academy eighth-graders will host a car wash benefit on Nov. 6 at Lahaina Gateway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help fund their annual trip to Boston and New York. The cost is $5 for cars and $10 for trucks and SUVs.
At the event, enjoy cookies, cakes and treats from the MPA Country Kitchen Bake Sale and shop at Barnes & Noble to support the Maui Prep Book Fair.
Maui Prep will use the benefit’s proceeds for the East Coast trip and off-island athletic and academic competitions.
